Our product designers saw an opportunity to improve how Venzee identifies errors in your product data, how it communicates those errors and, more importantly, how it could empower users to address those errors immediately.
Venzee’s always been good with data validation. In fact, how Venzee identifies errors in product information sets the platform apart from our competitors. It’s a huge value that Venzee adds to how you manage retailer relationships.
Oftentimes when you submit product updates, inventory, pricing, and information to retailers, you deal with buyers. Buyers are responsible for ensuring that you’ve given them exactly what they asked for and that you’ve delivered it in the right format to the right requirements. Because human input is required on the retailer side, typically, you won’t know that the information you've submitted is error-free and has been accepted without issue until a couple weeks pass. If the buyer finds an error in your submission, they’ll instruct you on what you need to fix, and the process repeats. This back and forth delays getting your products live and available for sale.
Whether your price attribute has a dollar sign where it shouldn’t be, a few cells contain extra spaces, or you’ve just submitted using an old product template (among so many other error possibilities), Venzee could have identified those errors for you. Venzee always checks your product information against current retailer requirements and alerts you to issues. You can submit complete, accurate datasets to any retailer the first time around.
In Venzee, the export step is the step where you take the product information you’ve added to the platform (in the form of product lists) and map product attributes from the chosen list to corresponding attributes in any retailer template.
Previously during this step, Venzee would check for errors once the user had completed mapping all attributes. However, as the number of required attributes per product from retailers continued to increase, the duration of the validation step also increased. Users were left waiting for reports to process, and that wasn’t ideal.
Retailers are progressively providing more information per product to online shoppers, which continues to increase the product content burden retailers place on manufacturers, distributors, vendors, and brands. With increasingly bigger templates it takes increasingly longer for users to map the templates, and, then after running the validation, they have to start fixing errors.
Now during an export, Venzee runs validation as you map attributes. It shows you missing data and errors, so you can identify problems right away. You get actionable feedback faster and can fix the errors right then and there.
